Comments This is surely one of the very best liveaboards anywhere. The cabins were spacious and comfortable. There were reading lights over the bed, which I appreciated greatly. Very tasteful decorations in each cabin, distinct from the others. Beautiful wood everywhere! A/C worked perfectly, and we slept like stones.

The food was of very good quality, fresh wahoo and tuna often, plus BBQ nights with shrimp, beef, fish, etc. Plenty of fruit and salad every day! Some traditional Indonesian food was also offered; we would have liked more. Breakfasts offered cereal, yogurt, croissants to omelettes, bacon, chicken sausage, or Indonesian noodles. Lunches were full meals also, not sandwiches etc.

The dive operation was amazing. You only had to put on your wetsuit and get on the inflatable. The crew had the rest of your gear and cameras waiting for you. Everything was handled carefully and expertly. I felt guilty for doing so little except actually diving.

The diving was very good. Warmish water, good viz. Lots of healthy, colorful corals. Given what's happening elsewhere, such beautiful coral seemed almost a miracle. We saw a handful of mantas, including some close encounters. We only saw one black tip shark, the others were white tips. A bit disappointing. One group of divers saw a dugong, which was the highlight of the trip. There were lots of critters for macro, but not quite as diverse as, say, Anilao. Our guide was great at finding things!

Overall very interesting diving. Some current but not a problem. My only gripe was that my wife and I were the most experienced divers onboard, but were grouped with two people who were hesitant to go deeper than about 60 feet, so we missed out on some things.

Our land visits were amazing, especially the visit to the Komodo Dragons on Rinca island. They are very impressive creatures! There were also monkeys, water buffalos, reindeer, and more. Pretty unforgettable!

We are definitely planning more trips on the Arenui

UW Photo Comments There was no designated camera work area. But since there were only a couple of large systems, it worked out ok. There were shelves to store your equipment and set up while not in use. There were also plenty of charging outlets on the shelves. Changing lens/ports was done on these shelves.
