Comments Good size boat with plenty of space. Cabins were big and well appointed, only complaint was the ceiling patches for the leaking deck above. These leaks needs to be addressed when in dry dock.

Dive operations were well run. Dive deck is a little tight but the groups were spaced out to prevent over crowding while suiting up. Groups were also split up among two different dive sights to ensure no over crowding. Dive guides were friendly but seemed a little bored so could have been more attentive in pointing out the small critters.

Biggest complaint was the food quality and variety. The food wasn't terrible but lacked much flair or variety. No breakfast meats or fresh croissants were available. Lunches and dinners included too often a seafood and chicken dish in some nondescript sauce. Of about 10 Liveaboard over the past 15+ years I can safely say the Amira food was the worst.

Overall it was an enjoyable trip with friendly/helpful crew, spacious boat, good dive operations, overall good dive spots and despite the poor food the upside is I lost a few kilos during the trip (g).

Sorry to read this - as I get to so many comments on how good and various our food is and that people GAIN weight. Please read some of our other undercurrent reviews- where divers loved our food! Our of respect to the Indonesia's main religion being Islam and some of our crew being Muslim - we do not serve PORK products on board as bacon, sausages etc. - but we have plenty of other items our guests can chose for breakfast and snacks. Gabrielle MSV AMIRA So 'pork' out before you come to AMIRA !:) Nevertheless ... - we will serve you various and amazing food onboard!! Asian and International favorites

Turkey bacon, chicken sausages or beef sausages would suffice as a breakfast meat while maintaining your "no pork" policy. (No beef bacon as that is just terrible). If I am not mistaken the regular chef was on leave during my trip so maybe this contributed to the less than stellar food offerings. I spoke to several others on my trip and they agreed with my assessment of the food quality and variety.
