Comments First time at Turquoise Bay resort (TBR) and will we go back? Absolutely. Read on !

Resort was slick clean - Rooms were spacious. We had coffee maker which allowed us to make coffee or tea water...No mini fridge nor microwave (we like to travel with microwave popcorn). We had a safe in the room. Rooms cleaned daily. Philamena - the resident donkey - roams freely over the grounds. From time to time the resort horses are allowed to "mow the resort lawn"

Full board buffet meals were included in our package. Food was good and there was nice selection so everyone got something to eat. Restaurant staff were quite personable and addressed you by name when fetching your beverages. TBR is more or less isolated and not in a row of resorts - we favored this isolation.

Now the diving:.....WOW and WOW....this was our first experience diving canyons and labyrinths and it was simply amazing. Several eagle rays and turtles passed over us in one canyon dive. TBR is on north side of the island and we were told south side has more fish life than what we saw on the north side. TBR has donated a boat to the Marine Park in order to foster patrols in vicinity of TBR and west.

The water was 'laid out flat' and again, we were told this was a bit unusual but we sure did enjoy the smooth brief boat rides to dive sites. Water temp was 82 and viz was between 75-100+
during our two week stay. Up to three boat dives a day were available. No shore diving. Boat was very roomy with excellent ladders....Billy the boat captain assisted you entering the water as well as returning on board - a WONDERFUL chap !..fresh fruit and water was available after every dive. Two rinse buckets on board for cameras and masks were absolutely crystal clean not to mention three huge rinse buckets back at the dock were refreshed often. The crew handled your equipment (BC and regulator) setting it up and at end of day rinsing and stowing in locker unless you of course wanted to tend to your own gear personally. The boats easily handle 12 divers while we had 2-8 divers on our boat during our trip. Groupers, turtles, green morays were all in abundance.

Nelson, our lead dive master and under water tour guide, was quick to point out various sightings. Another dive master named Enoc followed the group ensuring no one wandered or got lost...Enoc was also quick to point out sightings. Nelson recorded every divers dive data upon return to boat (max depth, dive time and remaining air)

Ahhh...the airport. We arrived on a Saturday. American, Delta and United flights all apparently arrived that day within minutes of each other creating the perfect storm so it took us 90 minutes to get thru immigration (yes, I clocked it !). Hint: maybe arrive on another day?

Airport transfer to and from TBR was included in our package and seamless.

One last recommendation: do NOT forget bug spray. sand fleas and no-see'ems have no mercy (for real!)
