Comments We dived and stayed with Seagrape Plantation Resort. Overall we don't care much for West End or West Bay, Roatan. The shop is apathetic to customer requests and appears stingy: Cost of petrol, time divemaster is out, no fresh water, tea or anything in between dives.. dives average 25-30usd depending if you stay at their "resort". The dive shop was well run and organized. They had lots of new looking rental gear. You have to wash and take care of your own gear (apart from your tanks). Some French divers were shocked that the divemaster took a group of 7 divers with him.
I was disappointed in the diving, visibility was good, and there were some nice corals, but where are all the fish?
The hotel has some sea bungalows (2 rooms per bungalow, so you have to share your balcony) and a building of cheaper rooms. The windows did not open, so you have to use the air conditioner. Many sandflies at sundown. Difficult to swim in the sea due to entryway being hard coral and urchins with no beach. Also my husband while snorkeling was constantly on the lookout for speedboats. Be careful.
They do not have a restaurant, so you have to make the short walk into West End for every meal. Also no alcohol is sold, but there's a beach bar next door. Most people bought fruit and veggies from the back of someone's pick up and made sandwiches etc in their rooms.
One night someone came through and stole a lot of stuff off the balconies, including the hammocks, I understand this happens quite a bit.
Overall an organised dive operation, but there isn't that much out there to look at.
