Comments Resort has been repainting and servicing boats, piers and rooms. Few bugs--resort sprays daily (but no butterflies, either). Bring cash--very hard to use traveler's checks, no ATM within miles. Food good, not gourmet but lots of it. Fresh fruit, omelettes, fresh-baked pastry and cookies, fish every day. Takes a while to figure out the air conditioning units. Sunning/snorkeling beaches very nice.Resort is isolated from town and tourist traps, taxis costly but then if you make four dives per day, who cares? Shore diving easy and available. Some rain squalls and chop, hang-on-tight current during two dives but this was January, after all. Really good "muck diving" right off the beach and gazebo--upside down jellyfish, arrow and green clinging crabs, brittle stars, cleaner shrimp, etc. Saw my first mushroom scorpionfish! Night dives loaded with critters. Guides are good at spotting morays and sea horses. Many pretty indigo and yellowbelly hamlets, drums, goldentail moray, etc. Saw hook and line fishing locally, not much in the way of big fish. French Key Bank had the most predatory fish (jacks, barracuda, some larger groupers) but this bank also has the most surge, not recommended for real novices. Never saw any sharks. There were reports of one each sea turtle and eagle ray. I saw a stingray scoot off. If you want big stuff, go somewhere else. Resort rents lights but was short on batteries--bring your own if you want to go night diving. Guides were professional and courteous, knew the area well.

UW Photo Comments Boats had dedicated camera buckets. No onshore facilities except for some film for sale in gift shop. No rentals.
NO large pelagics at all, only one big fish (100 lb. snapper) seen during entire trip but "muck diving" worthwhile--lots of small stuff. Hermit crabs, basket stars, shrimp and much more on night dives. Bring your macro lens or attachments!
