Comments Dive shop in a great location. Just redone, very nice shop and good boats. The dive staff are great, very accommodating. Though, I know Anja and I understand that she has moved on since I dove there (she used to own Mayan Divers).

Typical Roatan. No large animals but, good reefs. Seahorses, frog fish, scorpion fish. Nice encounter with an eagle ray and turtle playing. Got up close with a turtle munching on coral. One of the DMs speared a couple of lion fish and got to witness grouper going after the carcass. You can get a license to hunt lion fish in the nature preserve. I didn't do that but, was told for $25 you even get a hand held spear to keep. Definitely a lot of lion fish around, something I would consider on the next visit.

Fosters hotel - very convenient to the shop, 20' walk to the dive shop. I was diving solo so, opted to rough it a bit. Got rougher than I bargained for. The hotel is close to a swamp area so, lots of mosquitoes. The hotel does not spray for sand fleas so, lots of them also. To supplement income, the owner lets locals pay $5 per carload to come to the beach, lot's of late night parties and early morning beer bottles on the beach. Would not come back to this hotel. Rooms were clean and comfortable.

Enforced diving restrictions Went out a few days and I was the only diver. Spent one dive under the boat looking for a seahorse seen earlier. The shop was very accommodating. Again, was my second time diving with the dive master so, familiarity helped.
