Comments One of the best, if not the best all-inclusive dive resorts we have visited. From the time you literally step off the plane in Roatan, you are greeted by a CoCo View guest service rep, who organizes your transportation to the resort, via a short bus ride and then by boat - Yes, the resort sits on its own little island, right on the edge of the reef, with access to amazing shore diving 24-7. Accommodations are generously spacious and well appointed and include a choice of large over-the-water bungalows or cottages. Fare includes three meals a day, served in the main dining area by an outstanding kitchen staff. The bar tab is extra, but pricing is extremely inexpensive compared to anywhere else you go. Lastly, but most importantly, the dive operation is superbly organized and well run, featuring two boat dives per day, unlimited shore diving 24-7, Nitrox, safe overnight gear storage and a wonderful and highly professional staff. One should also note, their fleet of dive boats are not only built to handle any sea conditions, but are outfitted with highly unique mid-ship dive wells, which make re-entering the boats in choppy seas seem like flat calm conditions. As to the diving itself - probably the healthiest coral we have seen in a very long time in this part of the world, with intact stands of elkhorn, staghorn, brain and lettuce corals (long absent in the Florida Keys, the Bahamas and elsewhere in South Atlantic/Caribbean waters). While there was certainly an abundance or smaller tropical species and micro-organisms, there was a noticeable absence of medium size and larger fish. In the week we were there, we only saw one turtle, one small black grouper and a few medium-size snappers - a phenomenon which sadly is becoming all too common throughout the Caribbean due to unchecked overfishing and/or lack of effective enforcement even in designated marine parks.
The Resort itself is completely self-contained; and while there is really no need to leave the premises during your stay, we highly recommend taking the Eco-tour (organized through the Resort's Dockside Photo Shop), the Canopy zip-line tour and a visit down to West End. Transportation into town as well as to other points of interest on the island can be arranged through the Resort. That said, bring plenty of cash, as credit card charges for ancillary activities (transportation, dining off property, gift shop purchases, etc.) can carry hefty (18%) surcharges and foreign transaction fees.
