Comments After seeing such glowing reviews for diving in Roatan, I was extremely disappointed in the diseased coral and definite lack of fish and marine life. Out of our group of 44 total, 24 were doing a dive package, the rest were snorkeling, and some grandchildren were doing beginning SCUBA classes. In our overall general briefing, we were told that the stony coral disease had arrived there some 4 years ago and we would see damaged coral. There were highlights, but in general, the fish life seemed rather sparse compared to other places in the Caribbean. The highlights included an eagle ray and some turtles and queen angel fish on most every dive. I only did 14 out of a possible 20 dives. The last two dives were the best of the trip and I would've been very pleased if the overall quality of the dives had matched those. There was the most to see. Our DM, Jon was very good with the dive briefings, pointing out the tiny stuff and helping with gear. I did not do the extra dolphin experience or shark dive as I had no interest. There was also a small beach and shore diving was available at one location.

All of the staff at the resort were very friendly and welcoming. I had to rent a computer as mine had apparently been damaged when I had my regulator serviced and, it flooded and failed on the first dive. Rental gear was available. Plenty of rinse tanks, showers and individual dive lockers were provided. The accommodations were very nice with all having ocean views. Nice swimming pool. The food was good, but not fantastic and they seemed to think Americans all want french fries. The sand fleas drove my buddy crazy, but didn't bother me until I returned home and they started to itch. Granted, the last dive trip I did before 2020 was Wakatobi, I was still a bit disappointed.
