Comments Overall, we had an excellent time and would be happy to return again.

The Ni'ihau day trip was especially stunning - on our first dive we saw monks seals, 3 types of sharks, a manta ray, eagle rays, and large schools of fish. You just had to hover in place and the show came to you! And this was after seeing a pod of pilot whales and 2 pods of dolphins on the boat trip to get there. One person felt ill during the crossing, which is typical since the return portion of the 5 hour boat ride is notoriously rough. My group felt fine however, although we had popped some seasick pills the night before and the morning of the trip. The captain fishes during the crossing, which meant that at one point we had to stop so he could land his catch. Not a huge deal, but a seasick customer didn't appreciate the extra stop and it did add on extra time to an already long day on the water. I'd prefer he fish on his own time.

Local diving is a treat as well. There are not as many fish and coral as other places we've been (i.e. caribbean), but still lots to see. Some highlights were seeing lots of turtles, frogfish, whitetip reef sharks, and scorpionfish. The water was cool for my 3 mm wetsuit - I'd recommend 5mm minimum.

The boat is quite large (I'd guestimate 45 feet), roomy, and seems to be in great shape. I appreciated the bigger size especially during the crossing to Ni'ihau. Comfortable amount of space for sitting and for getting into your gear. There is a working head on board, which is a real plus in my opinion. Just take a light with you when you go. Giant stride off the back of the boat and two ladders to get back on. Snacks generally consist of chips, granola bars, and water for local dives, sandwiches and fruit for Ni'ihau dives.

The staff are great. Very friendly and competent. Good safety briefings. They divided the divers into 2 groups based on experience and air consumption. We were allowed to surface later than other divers who used up their air/nitrox faster than we did. The only negative was that one day our captain rushed us into our second dive after only about a 40 minute surface interval, which didn't impress us. In his defense, they likely have a schedule to keep, but I like to have at least an hour between dives.

If you're a woman, I highly recommend their dive shop for a great variety of t-shirts, coverups, sandels, etc. No "one size fits no-one" boxy t-shirts here.

Thanks for another great dive trip, Seasport!
