Comments Loved our accommodations at Hale Kai O'Kihei condos which are individually owned and decorated all ocean front units. Conveniently located to restaurants and grocery with free easy parking. Highly recommend Kehei Rent A Car for low cost car rental with high level service and reliable decent Toyota cars. Southwest flight nonstop from Long Beach, CA to Maui was convenient for us. Drive to Hana is a MUST for all the gorgeous waterfalls. Snorkel at Honolua Bay is also highly recommended for its beautiful location, easy bay entry, and decent coral, fish life and turtles.

ProDiver had nice boat with shade and rear dive platform. Only problem was that toilet was out of service. Friendly guide made a good effort to find interesting stuff for us to look at. Small group of 6 although boat could hold many more. Numbers limited to 8 max due to state covid controls. Could dive your computer. Very clear water with 100 ft vis. Moderately good tropical fish life and hard corals but below expectations for a national park. Did not see any fish larger than about 16 inches except for a couple of eels. Disappointed that I signed up for back wall of Molokini but instead got the sandbar inside the east end of the crater. Probably due to having 2 uncertified resort divers on the boat combined with slightly rough waters. Understandable that with limited number of divers that they need to cater to the lowest denominator. Big plus is that this outfit goes to Molokini every day and they don't require diver to show that they have dived in last 18 months in order to dive the back wall.
Whereas other dive outfits require recent dive experience. Normally I dive every year, but with covid this was not the case for me.

2nd dive was at Makena Landing close to the Kihei boat ramp. This is normally a shore dive from the boat ramp at Makena. Saw several large turtles but vis was poor to extremely poor due to lots of sand stirred up in the water cutting the dive short. Very disappointing choice for a 2nd dive. ProDiver does not normally do the 2nd tank at Molokini so this is a big negative when shore conditions on the main island are poor. Other divers said their second dive the day before at a different location was excellent. So luck of the draw on dive conditions. In general, I would not recommend diving in October due to trade winds, potential impact on dive conditions. If I were to go back to dive it would be in the summer when wind and waters are more calm.

Price of 2 tank dive was about $130 which is well below typical prices on the island. Offered to wash down equipment and wet suits at the end of the dive. Dive pickup at Kihei boat ramp with bathrooms and outdoor shower and a couple of picnic tables. Only a 20 minutes boat ride to Molokini. If you want to dive Molokini I would definitely recommend ProDiver.
