Comments Living in Hawaii (Oahu) we had often thought of the Aggressor but opted for shore diving and day trips. We are now convinced that the Kona Aggressor is the way to go to maximize enjoyment of Hawaii diving! All crew members were helpful, professional and made the trip great fun. Attractions include the large number of colorful endemic fish (especially when viewed against the background of lava rock and hard coral), mantas (during day and night dives), and the strange critters of the pelagic magic night dive. Many dive sites offer dramatic swim throughs and caverns. We swam with dolphins and pilot whales and frequently heard humpback whales underwater. The night dives can be cold especially as the fifth dive of the day. We used 5mm wetsuits for day dives and 7mm for night. Accommodations are quite comfortable and well maintained. Chef Chris provided a fantastic variety of food and special dietary needs (let staff know in advance) were readily accommodated. Captain James is a great dive guide and provided a very nice DVD. Crew Karl (alternate Captain), Matt, Mindy and David were all terrific and knowledgeable guides and ever present for any concern (we are convinced they have doubles on board). We plan on a return trip soon! If you are staying in Kona the renovated King Kamehameha Hotel (now run by Marriott) is pleasant and adjoins the pier used by the Aggressor. Great shore diving is available nearby and there are a number of excellent dive operations in Kona.

Currents?
By report author: Wayne and Stephanie Batzer in HI, US at Jun 27, 2014 20:46 EST
Most dives no to mild current. On dives with more current guides swam into current for start of dive with return aided by current. All dives are from the large boat but a small boat is readily available if current or other problem prevents easy return.
