Comments Although many dive reports say Hawaii diving is just so-so, I found our diving with Bubbles below to be outstanding! The owner, Linda, shows an enthusiasm for diving, and learning about underwater species that is inspiring and refreshing! Her divemasters and boat captains-Joe, Seth, and Earl share the same enthusiasm! We did 8 dives in 3 days with Bubbles Below. Although the first day was just so-so visibility 40-60' on the south side of the island, The visibility and amount of underwater life on the north side and at Niihau on the 2nd and 3rd day made the entire trip very worthwhile. I have never seen so many green sea turtles, and very big ones that would swim right up to you. The 2nd day trip they call "Oceanarium". It combines a lengthy site-seeing trip with 3 dives on the North shore of Kauai. Underwater views of Tangs, Moorish idols, and many species of angelfish and butterfly fish, some of which are only found in and around Kauai. At the end of the trip, we found that we had seen almost all of the species in the fish identification book that we looked at. The trip kept two photographers busy with their macro lenses taking photos of colorful flatworms, crabs, and eggs of gobies on wire coral. Linda was amazing as she pointed out things we never would have seen without her showing us. In between dives, we ran across two separate pods of spinner dolphins. We watched in amazement as the newborns jumped into the air while doing several quick rotations. There were at least 100 spinner dolphins in one of the pods. Its easy to know why they call them spinner dolphins. The 3rd day was a 17 mile trip to the island of Niihau. Although the return trip had 8-10 foot swells, my memories of diving with the monk seals and their antics outweighed the workout and slight nausea of the return. By the way, I learned that one of the divers on our trip posts his photos on the web. Seashots.com Click on Hawaii photos and you will see what I saw!
