Comments Dive #2: We also made manta ray night dive with TORPEDO TOURS, booked through KONA HONU. We had 3 divers and 4 snorkelers, just our group on the boat.
If you haven't made this dive, you should. It's a bit crazy, multiple boats, and seems like about 100 people in the water. But to see those majestic rays, 5-6 at a time, is not to be missed. A big moray eel, and Hawaiian seal added to the fun. We had several first time snorkelers, and first time at night, dive guides did a good job and everyone had a good time. Most of the dive is spent kneeling down on the bottom, so wear a good wetsuit, you will get cold. Kona Honu has a good short video on their website, that will give you a taste of the dive.
Also recommend snorkeling at Kahalu'u Beach Park, right in town. About a zillion people, good variety of fish, and not too crowded once you get out in the water. picnic tables, showers, snacks, some shade, limited parking, so you may have to drop people off and park up the road.
Vis & water temps varied.I hope this review isn't too confusing. I made 2 night dives, both very different-don't really fit in the form.
