Comments We were in the Galapagos on the Celebrity Xpedition, a great tour but no provisions for diving. They did arrange for the boat from Wreck Bay Diving Center to come out to Kicker Rock to meet the cruise ship. We were transfered from ship to dive boat by Zodiac. The first dive started as a wall dive on Kicker Rock, descending to the bottom at about 60 feet and then swimming through the channel in the rock. In the channel we saw both white tip and Galapagos sharks. There were a few fish, but nothing particularly exciting. The surface interval was a pleasant tour around the rock and a discussion of the topography and geology of the islands. The second dive was a direct descent to 60 feet at the North Point of Kicker Rock and a swim against the current to the very tip. At that point we "hid" behind a large boulder to get out of the current and to watch for what might drift by. The outstanding sightings were a very large (500ish) school of barracuda and a small group of hammerhead sharks (5-8). It was overall a pretty good dive. The team from Wreck Bay did their job, this was probably just not the best place to be diving. Later in the trip, I saw more interesting things while snorkeling. How often do you get to snorkel with penguins? Probably the only place in the world where you can do that.
