Comments This was my second trip to the Galapagos. I was there approximatley 10 years ago. The trips fill up fast and I had to book this trip a year in advance. I went on Peter Hughes boat the Sky Dancer. This was the last of the 10 day trips unless they change the rules. The boat is well maintained. If there was a problem or you had a request they would handle it immediately. This was the hardest working crew I have ever been around. When ever we were leaving for a dive or returning from a dive, all hands were on deck to assist the divers. We dove from 2 zodiacs and were required to suit up in full gear and than board the zodiacs. We all had 7mm suits and were glad we did. There are no ladders on the zodiacs so you hand your weights and tanks to the driver and than make like a seal and reboard the boat. The meals were all hot and served inside. Beer and wine was included in the evening meal.
The 10 day trip allowed you to dive 2 days at wolf and 4 days at Darwin where the big action takes place. From all I read December was to late to see the Whale Sharks. Sometimes its better to be lucky than good. The currents had not changed and the whale sharks were still there. On the 4 days at Darwin we did 16 dives. We saw whale sharks on 15 dives, with most dives having multiple sightings. There were also schools of hammerhead sharks, eagle rays and turtles. If your going to make this trip make sure you come into Equator at least 2 days prior to the boat trip. From Los Angleles it took 4 flights to get to the Galapagos. Three of my flights had some type of delay. One lady on our trip tried to fly from New York and did not come in early. Her flight was delayed and she missed the trip.
