Comments	First getting there. Living on the East Coast US we traveled from Newark to San Francisco, short lay over, then onward to Tahiti (Fa'a'ā International Airport Papeete). Due to the current airline time tables you arrive in Tahiti late evening and there are no outgoing interisland flights until the morning. We stayed the night at the intercontinental, a large resort, short distance from the airport (you can hear the large international flights coming and going). The resort is enormous with 2 or 3 restaurants, and a large Buffet for breakfast. Knowing from previous travels the breakfast at the intercontinental was going to be the largest of our trip. We caught up on the time zone, had soem breakfast then were allowed to enjoy the pools until it was time to fly to Tikehau. Flight from PPT to Tikehau is via Air Tahiti (only airline serving all French Polynesia islands via ATR-72 (I love this aircraft aside from being 6'3"). Flight time 1 hour, with some amazing views! Received at the airport by the resort manager and transported to the resort via shared Van then Boat. Resort is about 15 min by boat from the main town. Arrival with fresh Leis and juice. Quick resort overview and then introduction to the Overwater Bungalow. No Air-conditioning necessary. Situated over a shallow pass between the lagoon and ocean the amount of life under the bungalow was out of this world. Breakfast was buffet style with eggs, bacon, sausage, cured meats and cheeses, pancakes, assorted pastry items and yogurt. Very filling and more then adequate. Diving was arranged with Raie Manta Club, who called us and picked us up from the resort via the dive boat. Quick boat safety briefing and off to the pass we went (about a 30 min ride). Upon arriving at the area near the pass a full safety briefing, photo dive plan and paperwork was completed. The Diving! Diving in Tikehau was to be done at the Tuheiava pass and we had hoped to do an incoming current pass, but our two days and dive times did now allow. We saw an array of large creatures the main attraction was a group of about 7 Oceanic White Tip passing through a cleaning station only feet from us. Dives typically would start out in the blue at a deep depth waiting for some large visitor, and then would find ourselves closer to the oceanic step towards the main opening of the pass. The schools of barracuda, jack fish, pufferfish, longnose, snappers, were huge and a welcome site, the quantity, quality and diversity of the fish population is amazing. All of our dives were with the out going current so we could only navigate the sides of the pass and never through on our 2 days of 2 tanks. Surface interval was spent on the boat enjoying fresh (opened by had by the boats captain) coconut water and strips of fresh coconut. Day 1 we had a private guided dive, day two it was 4 divers to the divemaster. Covid protocols were face masks required on the plane, shared van, boat to resort, gathering areas at the resort and entering the bar area or restaurant can remove once seated. Hand sanitizer was available in most areas.
