Comments We did 2 dives in Bora bora. We had not planned on diving but we bought a 10 dive package in Rangiroa and they honored it at there sister company Bathy's diving. They picked us up at our resort and we set out for our 1st dive at Muri muri. Our dive master was Eric and they had grouped an experienced bunch of us together with him. He was a great divemaster. At Muri muri we giant strided in and right away there were reef sharks there to greet us and they weren't shy. They were wonderful for us photographers. On the dive we saw a huge school of jacks that schooled around me, Eric had told us that they would be there. The resident turtles there are used to being fed and all you have to do is rub your fingers together as though you have food and they are in your face. Very fun! We finished our dive and our 2nd dive was at Tapu motu (the lemon shark dive) The only thing bad I have to say is that they wanted us back in the water in 35 minutes. I wasn't very comfortable with that but forgot all about it when I came face to face with these big beauties. We had 4 lemon sharks in the beginning of the dive to welcome us. They are very used to people and are curious. I have to admit it got my heart pumping. Some of these girls were 12 foot. We did see some lionfish on the dive but I would say the whole dive your pritty much focused on getting your glamour shots of the sharks. Note to photographers, make sure to get a person in the photo for perpspective, they usually know the divemaster and get within kissing distance of them. My overall rating for Bora Bora diving was great! My husband and I love sharks and also the oppurtunity to photogragh them up close. We got both. There is also one more worthy water activity in Bora bora. The shark and ray feed. Your only in like 4 1/2 feet of water and your standing. All you need is your booties, mask and snorkel. This is not to be missed but it's not for anyone who's very scared of rays or sharks because they are everywhere and the rays jump up on you to say hi, just as a dog would, as soon as you get in the water. I've been to stingray city cayman island, and shark ray alley belize but have never had an interaction like this. For the shark feeding they have a rope along the top of the water that is tightly secured. you hold on to the rope and the one guide walks 20 feet across and starts throwing sardines in and the frenzy begins. These are all small black tip sharks. It's a beautiful scene. The clarity of water is perfect, it's shallow so there's a ton of color, theres a white sandy bottom, the sharks are pritty much babies so they don't have much damage to their bodies and there are all the rays swimming below all the action. The tour operator caught all of this on video which we bought at the end and we love it. We stayed at the St. Regis in a deluxe overwater bungalow and it was the most amazing room we've ever stayed in. First class all the way. And you will pay first class prices too. Dinners at their restaraunt Lagoon were 350$+. Choose your activities wisely because to do anything is very expensive. Bora bora is the most beautiful place we have ever seen and plan on going back one day. On another note, we heard about humpback whales around the island when we were there and some operators go out looking for them to snorkel with them. They were in calfing. One of our servers at the hotel went out and had a great experience with them.
