Comments The resort is absolutely beautiful and the bures were huge. We arrived about 9 in the morning and received a very pleasant surprise of a full made to order breakfast to accompany our check-in procedures and forms filling. The king bed was firm yet comfortable, and sheets and towels were changed every 3 days (or sooner at your request). Water pressure was great, and if the solar heating didn't have it hot enough for you, you could boost it with the ancillary heating system (only needed once on a rainy, overcast day). Cleanliness everywhere was fantastic. No AC, but not needed, with lots of screened open windows to let in the cool breezes at night and ceiling fans.

Meals at the open air restaurant were uniformly fantastic. They posted daily meal specials with a variety of options such as chicken, beef, fish or vegetarian. You could always order pizzas (huge!) or burgers off the menu for lunch or dinner. Portions were generally large, and the sauces accompanying the dishes were very flavorful. We both had meal plans, and were only charged for our nightly cocktails (large and tasty!). The staff were always so friendly, helpful, cheerily teasing and genuinely wanting to grant your every wish. Mosquitoes were very prevalent, but there were cans of spray repellent always available at the bar.

Now, for the diving. The dive sites were scattered along Rainbow Reef and were reached within a 15-20 minute boat ride. They were uniformly very healthy with layers and layers of hard and soft corals, as well as extremely fishy. Variety of species was enormous (especially butterflies and wrasse), as was the sheer quantity. We saw only a few turtles and 2 sharks all week. Nice point - they ensure that you never repeat a site during your stay. We just missed the timing for the Great White Wall (only twice a month?).

Entry was either backroll or giant stride from the "tinny", and you re-board by climbing up the ladder with your gear on, or handing it up for the staff to haul up for you. Time limits were strictly enforced, even if all divers still had 1000 psi. This was our major negative with this operation. Also, one day, there were 4 of us experienced divers and one very inexperienced diver. There was one dive guide for all of us, and when the newbie predictably ran out of air early, the dive was terminated at 40 minutes. The four of us had been diving with the guides for the previous 2 days, so they knew our capabilities. We felt they should have had 2 separate guides, knowing how inexperienced the new one was (25 lifetime dives). They did let my husband and I come up by ourselves one time when I had blown through my air taking pictures of a blue ribbon eel in current.

We love Fiji diving, but we'll try another operator next time.
