Comments The accomodations were excellent. Beautiful grounds and beaches. There was 24 hr security staff walking the resort. The resort staff worked very hard to make everyone's stay pleasurable. The diving was marginal. Not much in the way of reef life or color. Having spent the previous week in Taveuni we had an immediate comparison. Other diving couples we met here also expressed disappointment in the diving. The "world famous Beqa Lagoon" was a dead wasteland so shore diving was a waste of time. The food was disappointing. We stopped ordering the fish after 3 days. The last fish dinner I could smell how bad it was before it was placed in front of me. The other dishes were excellent though, as were the desserts. There was a large group of 18 from the US that were rude (nudity, vulgarity, etc.), and very insensitive to the Fijian culture. They must have watched too many "Students Gone Wild Spring Break" videos. They acted like 16 year olds away from home for the first time. These were adults from early 30s to mid 60s who staged a panty raid, dancing around the dining room with underwear on their heads. One member staggered drunkenly into the village at 2am demanding a kava ceremony. Of course the Fijian staff were too polite to confront them, but management should have stopped it early. The trip into the village for Sunday church is well worth it, if only to hear their choir. I'm not sure if we would return to Marlin Bay. There are too many other places in Fiji worth exploring. However, the accomodations and staff are among the best.
