Comments Dive Dominica (Dominica pronounced "DOE-MIN-EH-KA" by the locals) is located at the Comfort Castle Lodge, some miles away from the dock at the Fort Young Hotel where they pick you up if you'rte not staying at the Lodge. They were 45 minutes late getting to us at their appointment time. Nicely appointed dive boat. A dozen snorkelers were on the boat with us but actually this didn't restrict or otherwise interfere with our diving. In fact, divers were given precedent and priority, We dove "Witches Point" (aka "The Soucerer'), a quasi wall dive, and "Champagne for the second dive. The coral was in very good shape on dive one and the proliferation of huge Barrel Sponges was greater than any other dive we've made in the Caribbean. No pelagics or big stuff but the visibility was very nice and there was the usual array of fish life athough not overwhelming. A few Flounders, schools of Sergeant Majors and the like. On the second dive we did "Champagne," an otherwise unimpressive dive among scruffy coral heads but showcased by methane, sulfur and hot air vents bubbling through the sand. Overall I'd say that Dominica probably rates a closer look and may be worthy of consideration as a week-long dive destination if you're thinking about someplace in the Caribbean.
