Comments To start, Izzy, the dive master and Dave, the captain were super! Very friendly, helpful, and environmentally concerned which made the diving that much more fun.

The diving was wonderful! Corals abundant, healthy and very colorful. Fish numbered in the 100's in each school. Saw 1 nurse shark, spotted moray eels were everywhere (saw 4 or 5 on every dive), Many scorpion fish were sighted. Up to 2 turtles were spotted on every dive, and one of them probably weighed 400 or 500 pounds. Obviously very olds, barnacles all over its back. Saw one electric ray and one yellow frog fish. Saw 3 or 4 sea horses, a couple great barracuda and a couple big crabs. There is a cave that goes in about 45 feet, and dozens and dozens of lobster can be found in it, crawling all over each other. Very strange sight. Macro was great. Lots of beautifully colored lettuce leaf slugs, arrow bennies. Champagne Reef, a must! Water in the immediate area was over 90 degrees, due to the volcanic activity deep in the earth. Bubbles coming up thru every nook and cranny. The sulfur has tinted the sandy bottom yellow in that area. If I had to pick one word to describe diving in Dominica, it would be WOW!

The biggest warning I would give is watch out for traffic! They drive like maniacs, even in the city. The roads are only about 12 feet wide and the cars/vans pass each other at great speeds. Quite scary, since airport in an hour and 1/2 from the resort area. Because Dominica is very mountainous, the roads are extremely curvy, with switchbacks and you're going up and down and around these curves going at great speeds for the conditions. I would greatly suggest NOT renting a car! Oh yeah...you better run across streets, as vehicles won't slow down or stop for you to cross.

The Anchorage Hotel was clean, but a bit run down. The room did a hav a fridge, air, fan, TV, with a few channels, and a phone. Curtains and bedspread fairly new, but walls needed paint and the bathroom need attention. We noticed a bit of mold here and there in bathroom. The front desk people were very nice, as all people in Dominica are, but they didn't seem to know much about the running of the hotel. The food manager was very inappropriate when she ripped the waitress a new one, right in front of us. The pool, although small, was serviced every day, and was very clean and clear.
