Comments This was a great trip to Sunset Waters Beach Resort and Sunset Divers on Curacao for our group of 19. The group has been making at least one trip every year for the past 15 years and all agreed that this was among the better and relaxing overall trips. Sunset Waters Beach Resort and Sunset Divers combined to make it so. From picking us up at the Curacao Airport, through the housekeeping and dining room staff and the dive operation, service was excellent, personal and generally consistent. The resort's General Manager, Jim Hunter, is a hands on and available manager that does everything possible to please his guests. The accomodations were very nice; rooms right on the water with balconies. They are in the process of replacing the air conditioning system and that will take care of the modest need for additional capacity. When maintenance problems did arise, as they will, they were resolved instantly. The pool and pool bar was very popular in late afternoons. Food was varied, and with a very few exceptions, well prepared and nicely presented; several great buffets with the balance being individual menu service. All beverages, including standard alcohol brands, were included and the wait staff was always prompt and pleasent. The resort provides free shuttle service into town. Now to the diving: we had use of their largest dive boat (Day Dreamer) and it was very roomy, had two boarding ladders and was quite stable and fast. Typical trip to a dive site was 10 to 15 minutes. There was always one divemaster in the water and very often, two. We saw very little in the way of "big stuff" but the small fish were very plentiful in variety and quantity. We saw spotted eagle rays on two occasions, the biggest lobsters and morays that any of us had ever seen (no exageration!!), a large black seahorse and on the house reef, a frog fish. Great dive sites included Mushroom Forest, Black Coral Garden, Sponge Forest, Hell's Hole, Lost Anchor and Porta Marie. The house reef was quite good and easily accessible. Unlimited shore diving was truly available and worthwhile. Although we generally try to go to new places every year we will not hesitate to return to Sunset Waters and Sunset Divers!!
