Comments Accommodations were fairly basic but for those on a budget like us, perfectly comfortable. We had a studio with small kitchen. There were communal barbecues to use, dive tanks and lockable room on site. If you stay here you need to rent a car and buy groceries & bug killer and repellent on your way from the airport. We did 3 shore dives and 10 boat dives, the latter from the nearby OEW dive shop on Playa Kalki, next door to the Kura Hulanda Lodge/resort. The dive shop and crew were excellent (Bryan, Steven and David) - some of the best serivce we have had in the last 10 years. Up to you to set up your own gear but I prefer this. They have a dive locker but it gets locked up at ~ 5PM daily so if you want to dive after PM from there make sure to get your dive gear out and tanks. Dive sites were all within 30 minutes of the dock. The boat was comfortable but you will get wet on the way out, they are getting a new boat with more shelter/cover. The coral is some of the healthiest we have seen recently, exceptionally at Watamulu. We saw seahorses and lots of small critters. The largest fish we saw was an eagle ray while diving Rediho we also saw 2 late at night feeding just below our balcony at All West. There were lots of reef fish. We saw 2 turtles. We also saw a lionfish at the All West reef. Reportedly on one of the afternoon Watamulu dives a hammerhead was seen. There was only one dive with significant current- Alvins Plane wreck which was another good coral dive the next day we did it again and there was hardly any current. There are 5 places you can eat in Westpunt but not all are open every day of the week. Sol Food (pizza and grilled fish, meat) and Landuis Misje (Creole) were good & reasonable, Jaanchies is a local experience and we enjoyed it although the food was average. We did not try the Chinese restaurant; we had dinner after a night dive at the Kura Hulanda, the food was good but pricey for what it was. Between dives we hung out on Playa Kalki although it was hard sometimes to find shade. Skip Grand Knip beach, it looked beautiful from a distance but was like a rubbish dump. Porto Mari was nice, had a dive shop, restaurant etc. You pay a small fee to get in but they keep it clean. Overall we had a great time and probably prefer Curacao diving to Bonaire and are seriously considering returning for next year
