Comments Kura Hulanda Lodge is about 40 minutes from the airport. It has an excellent location, lush (but not exceptionally maintained) grounds overlooking the water although the beach isn't much - but enough for divers looking to relax. The Lodge in general was reasonably well maintained and comfortable but seemed a little short of staff. The food at the main restaurant was good, but menu choices limited. On Fri/Sat, only the beach restaurant is open but it served very good grilled meats. In general, service is good in the complex and the staff is friendly and helpful.

Fri/Sat/Sun, a restaurant named Sol is open and you can walk there - good food including pizza, owned by NH couple. Make a reservation Otherwise, you need a car or taxi to venture off Lodge property for food, including markets (some rooms have kitchenettes).

You can take the hotel van from the lodge to their sister property in Willemstad and spend good part of the day in "city". We also hired a taxi for a guided exploration of the island. We would return to Kura Hulanda Lodge.

Go West Diving is a well run efficient operation, located on the Kura Hulanda property. Boats leave at 8:30, return around 1:00. You handle your own gear but they will assist as needed. Diving is easy, some drift but mostly moorings. The boats are good size, generally not overloaded with divers. Snacks, water, and juice are aboard. The Divemasters were competent and outgoing. At the end of the dive, they have separate rinse tanks for specific gear, including one with disinfectant for wetsuits. There is a storage area.

A typical dive was 60+ minutes including safety stop. I don't think we ever went past 70 feet. Coral life was good, fish plentiful. We saw lots of Spotted Morays, and Golden Spotted Eels. All in all, the dives were relaxing and an opportunity to scour the coral for critters.
