Comments After 6 months of lockdown we needed to get back in the water and Mexico was one of the few countries that allowed Americans in without a hard to get test. JetBlue made it safe and easy with a 3 and a half hour non-stop flight and a blocked middle seat. After a 30 minute private transfer from Cancun airport to the Rosewood Mayakoba, and a short boat ride to our overwater villa with private pool, we had arrived. The hotel was paradise! The grounds were immaculate, the staff could not have been nicer and the food and service superb. Everyone wore masks at all times, sanitizer stations were everywhere, and health concerns were taken seriously. For our week stay, we did 8 dives over 4 days. The dive center had just opened in November, 2019 was forced to close in March, and had recently reopened. It serves the 4 hotels in Mayakoba- Rosewood, Fairmont, Andaz and Banyan Tree.. We had the boat to ourselves with a fabulous dive guide, a captain and an assistant. We did drift wall and reef dives and a wreck dive. Fish life was abundant and reefs were healthy. Current could be strong (3 knots) but was manageable. Many dives lasted an hour. The price for a 2 tank dive was an eye-popping $170 per person without rental equipment, but they are hopefully reevaluating their pricing structure. All in all definitely worth the trip!
