Comments This was our 5th trip to Cozumel and Deportes Aquaticos. We love the Island and the Dive Operation. Sergio Sandoval, Sr. has been diving these waters for 30 years. He is always excited to hunt around for some critter to show you. I shoot underwater video and he was enthusiastic in helping me look for sharks (we once shaw 5 nurse sharks in one spot) and sending me into swimthroughs ahead of the other divers to set up shots. His son, Sergio Jr.is also a dive master and has a relaxed calm demeanor, finds the criters and moves around as gracefully as the fish. The boat is slow and small, 10 people max, but there is usually plenty of room to sit or lay. We were picked up at the Fiesta Americana pier at about 9:00 and returned at about 2:30. They do not rush the surface interval. After the first dive we have lunch near shore or docked at a remote beach site. They give you plenty of time to snorkel, swim or sleep. The usual surface interval is at least 1.5 hours. There is always a crew member ready to help you with you gear and any other small need you may have. Deep sites have incredible coral formations and walls where you can usually run into turtles and rays. The shallow sites have coral, a large diversity of fish life and macro detail. You may even see a nurse shark or two.
