Comments Thank you Undercurrent for learning about Aldora Divers. I finally got to dive with them this year. With 120 cf of Nitrox the bottom time was incredible. In previous trips to Cozumel I could dive in just a swim suit and get a little chilled in 83 deg f. water. With the extra bottom time (84 min to 81 ft) in a 1 mil suit I definitely got cold. The fleece robes were greatly appreciated. The long surface interval at the beach club also helped. Next time I will definitely use 5 mil.
In my limited experience this is my favorite dive destination. I have been here several times since 1993. Easy drift diving with a live boat. Great reefs and variety of terrain. It is now more touristy, but it is possible for more old school dining experiences. With air bnb a stay can be very inexpensive.
The service of Aldora was great. I did a refresher course and at the end of the shore dive my 1982 ScubaPro Classic BCD died (the Schroeder valve for CO2 cartridges delaminated from the bladder). They supplied a BCD and were kind enough to not charge me for the two days I could dive with them. I just dropped off my gear at the shop and picked it up when we were done for the trip. They left early and were always first on the reef. They take requests and go where the divers want to go.
Dinorah was a great dive master as was everyone I dealt with at Aldora. I will definitely dive with them again and heartily recommend them.
I understand if you want to stay at Aldora Villa (seemed nice, but did not stay there) discounts are available for cash payments.
