Comments We chose this Okeanos Aggressor II itinerary because the 32-hour crossing to Cocos Island is not in our stars. The diving was very good with lots of life on the reefs, if you went slowly enough to see the critters. All the diving is done from two pangas and the tanks are left on the panga for filling so it's much easier to get on and off without having to haul the tanks and weights up the ladder on a moving vessel. The nitrox fills were consistently 31%-33% and tested as it came out of the fill hose. I would prefer to test my individual tank but that isn't the way on this boat. On our first day of diving, our divemaster wanted to swim as fast as possible to get to–who knows where. Our group asked him to slow down so that we could take photographs and after several more requests, he finally slowed down so that we could enjoy the dive. I'm not sure why young male divemasters think their divers want to swim long distances into the current, but it seems to happen on too many boats. Several of us decided to follow our own dive plan after we hit 104' and the nitrox alarms on all the computers started screaming. After that the dives became less stressful and more enjoyable. The cabins were the usual liveaboard cabin. Our air conditioning was a bit less-than-effective the first day but the crew fixed it and it worked fine after that. The food was good, even for the vegetarians on board. On one afternoon, we skipped diving and toured Corcovado National Park with a park ranger. We encountered tapirs, howler monkeys, macaws, and even an anteater. It was an enjoyable way to off gas for an afternoon. My biggest complaint on this boat was the other passengers. There were seven people who came as a group and were loud, arrogant, and obnoxious. There is never a reason to move another diver's gear without asking, but they found reasons to throw our drying suits on the floor, move gear from lockers, sit on our lockers when we were trying to dress, and just be general nuisances. After the last dive of the day, they took three bottles of wine each and went to the upper deck. They left no room for anyone else to sit so the remainder of the passengers were relegated to the salon. I know that some boats ration alcohol and charge for extra drinks. I don't think that is the answer but perhaps some reasonable limits should be put on drinking and diving. It's divers like these that make me choose the "Individuals" weeks when scheduling a trip.
