Comments This was our second year in a row staying at Brac Reef Beach Resort and diving with their in-house dive operation, Reef Divers II. Suffice it to say that we wouldn't have gone back if we hadn't had such a wonderful experience last year! The resort is clean and comfortable, the meals satisfying, and the company of the resort and dive staff pleasant. The divemasters/instructors who staff Reef Divers are genuinely fantastic people: warm, engaging, witty, knowledgable about the local diving, and more than willing to go above and beyond to make the whole diving experience as close to nirvana as possible. Even with visibility less than 2003, almost every dive site offered a cornucopia of big, small and in-between treats for the eyes. And effortless: set up our gear on day one, never had to worry about a thing until after our final dive on day six. Very few sharks, several turtles, but hundreds of thousands of spectacular coral, sponges, fishes, and invertebrates to feast our eyes on at every turn. Snapper Reef was a favorite of ours, a site my daughter and I got to visit three times during our stay, without any complaint from either one of us. She found lettuce leaf sea slugs, secretary blennies, coral banded shrimp, arrow crabs, yellowhead jaw fish, fairy basslets while just poking around, in addition to the larger friends: tang, jacks, barracuda, parrot fish, queen and french angels, trumpets and, of course, snappers, etc. She's already making plans to return next year! And who knows, as easy as the diving is, as healthy as the reefs look, and as wonderful as Reef Divers treats us, there really is no good reason to look elsewhere for an extremely satisfying dive experience. The only downside: Cayman Airways Express between Grand Cayman and Cayman Brac. Unlike Island Air, CAE seems to regularly lose/misplace/forget luggage, and it seems like it's a regular occurence. Sadly, it doesn't seem to bother the airline personnel with whom we interacted that the absence of personal belongings (including dive gear) might negatively impact a weeklong vacation. Next time, we'll most likely use Island Air from the big island over to the sister islands. They at least made sure our luggage traveled with us.
