Comments It seems like most of the traditions at Pirates Point remain in place as Susan, Gladys's daughter, takes over. She is upgrading some like fresh paint and some new service buildings but many things remain the same. We were there over Halloween and the party was great as people from the island came in costume as well as the regulars. There was a closet full of costumes to borrow for those not prepared (us). The food continues to be great. We chose a oceanfront room that didn't have A/C. It was OK at night but during the day it was warm. They provided big fans which were a help. Maybe A/C the next time.

It had been a long time since we were in the Caymans and we were disappointed in the fish count. Guess the lionfish had done there damage. The dive masters commented on that there seemed to be more fry so maybe the fish are starting to come back. Culling of the lionfish by the dive masters is a ongoing activity. We saw a few on almost every dive. The reefs were still in good shape and they try hard to keep it that way. We were constantly being reminded about our diving and staying away from the reef - maybe a little too much.

We missed our flight home from Grand Cayman because our Cayman Air flight was late getting in. One needs to be at the Delta (or whom you're using) an hour before take off. We were five minutes late and they wouldn't let us check in. We had to stay overnight at our expense. So, give yourself plenty of time between flights especially if you are booking your flight home separately from the flight to Grand Cayman from an outer island.
