Comments This was our 19th trip to Pirates Point since 1995. My wife and I now make at least one trip there every year, typically the beginning of August for 2 weeks. The staff are more like old friends than any other description. We also look forward to seeing dive buddies who, like us, show up like clockwork every year and meeting new friends. The food is wonderful. I will refer the reader to my numerous Undercurrent trip reports from past years for more detailed description and will focus on what was different this year. The water is typically 84 F, but this year, except for 3 days when we had a cold upwelling of 82 - 83 F the water was uniformly 86 F. The visibility was greater than usual this year. With the exception of the shallows on a few windy days the visibility was over 100 ft. and there was one calm, flat day where I am sure it exceeded 150 ft. There is always something new to see, even though we have been there so many times. This year there were 2 dive sites which had decorator crabs that I had never seen before. They were so well camouflaged that, even though we knew where they were, at one location the dive master and I hung there for 10 minutes or so and saw nothing until one of them moved. I will also note there are a number of large Nassau groupers which will follow you around like puppy dogs and want to be petted. They may view divers as big cleaners. We'll definitely be back again next year.

UW Photo Comments Rinse tank on boat could have become crowded if there had been a large number of photographers, but was not a problem while I was there. Similarly, the dedicated rinse tank on-shore isn't huge.
