Comments Cayman wall diving is great for crystal clear water and dizzying views over the wall down to deep blue infinity. Lots of fun and interesting swim throughs, nice coral growth, a bit above average compared to other spots in the Caribbean.

The dive masters were awesome, all very experienced, helpful, friendly and engaging, I think they are Ocean Frontier's best asset, management certainly seems to select them with great care and attention. And although I know DM's rely on tips for much needed extra income, unlike some other dive operators I have visited, there was never a suggestion of demand in that direction. I was very impressed by that enormous respect they showed for their clients.

Accommodation was also super, ocean front condo fully equipped with a kitchen, washer-dryer, internet etc, etc, about 50 steps in total straight onto the dive boat. Beautiful!

One small annoyance of note. During our stay there, a beaked whale was found washed up ashore. With permission from the Cayman government authorities, Ocean Frontier towed the carcass just outside the reef and lashed it to a mooring. Predictably, it was set on by some very impressive Tiger sharks. Having filmed sharks quite extensively, had I had the opportunity to film that, it would have made my trip. I was politely informed, though, that 'civilians' aren't allowed to do that.

To be fair, the safety concerns are considerable, legal liability being what it is these days, they choose the safe route. And the Cayman government does, in fact, prohibit chumming for sharks.

In this somewhat grey-area case, however, they might consider taking a better measure of their clientele. The UWP community, as a general group, lives to dive for ever-better images from the ocean. And that opportunity, sadly missed, was a spectacular one.

That notwithstanding, any future trips to Grand Cayman will certainly involve Ocean Frontiers. Not a dive adventure by any means, but an outstanding island vacation with some clear blue warm water mixed in.
