Comments Ocean Frontiers is probably the best Dive Operations I have ever dived with.
It is located on the East End of Grand Cayman and the resort affiliated with them is Compass Point.
I was very impressed how friendly, helpful and courteous the whole staff was from the very first dive. When you dive with Ocean Frontiers you touch your dive gear twice. Once when you get there and once when you leave! They take care of everything, including rinsing and hang drying your wetsuits. All your equipment is waiting for you on the boat, set up and ready to go.They change your tanks between dives and break it down, rinse and store it in your own locker until your next dive.
The instructors are very knowledgeable. Their dive briefing and maps of the dive site are excellent. You can go on the dive guided or you can dive your own profile. Letting you know that you are responsible for your navigation and air consumption.
The first dive of the day is the wall dive. Our first dive was The Maze. The dive was unreal. The swim troughs and crevasses that we dived in were amazing! Finally coming out on a wall and seeing reef sharks and turtles swimming in the mild current. Maximum depth is between 100ft and 120ft. Now I know why this dive site is rated one of the best on Grand Cayman. Another favorite of mine is High Rock Drop Off. This is also a deep dive. You start your dive in about 60ft entering a long sun lit descending tunnel. At the end of the tunnel you come out on this amazing wall looking down 3000ft into the Cayman Trench! All with 100 to 150ft visibility.Other favorite deep dive sites are Sunset Reef,Split Rock and Barrel Sponge Wall.
The second dive of the day is the shallow one. Maximum depth 60ft.You can also go guided or go off on your own. Some great sites are Kelly's Caverns,Frank Sound Gardens and Fish Tank. We saw some nice nurse sharks sleeping under rock ledges, free swimming moray eels and turtles. Lots of reef fish and small stuff to look for.
We also used Ocean Frontiers for our dive at Stingray City. This was an afternoon dive with only six divers on the boat.I hired Elly Wray, Ocean Frontier's photographer who got some amazing shots of Stingrays swimming all around us.
If you ever go to Grand Cayman.Stay on the East End and dive with Ocean Frontiers. You will be happy that you did.
Hope this was helpful and safe diving, Danny
P.S. We did not stay at Compass Point.I had a Timeshare at The Morritts Grand which is about a 5 to 10 minute dive from this dive operation.
