Comments Ocean Frontiers (OF) is located on the “East End” of Grand Cayman Island and has to be one of the most efficient land based operations anywhere. When you first arrive, your gear goes into a basket which is then stored in a secure area. The amount of weight you need is noted on your basket. When you arrive at the boat each day for your dives, your gear is already set up on a tank for you and your required weights, (belt or integrated) are under your seat by your fins. The only thing the guest does is insert their weights in their BC. OF has 3-4 fast, well equipped boats that hold a max of 12 divers and have plenty of room for everyone. During the dives, you can dive your own profile or be lead by a dive master. There is one DM in the water for each group of 6 divers. My wife and I always took the guided tour since the DM knows where to find the best photo ops and swim through. After about 40 minutes on each dive, the DM points up to the boat to show the divers were it is and waves good bye allowing the divers to make their safety stop and poke around on their own for their remaining time. There is plenty of water and lemonade available on the boat and plenty of room for cameras, hats, sunglasses, etc. The DM’s change out each diver’s tank between dives. When the boat arrives back at the pier, other OF staff members are there with your basket. The diver puts all of their gear in the basket including wet suit and that’s it! OF hauls your gear up the pier, rinses it out and hangs up all wet suits, BC’s and regs. You literally do nothing with your gear from when you arrive until when you leave. The East End has many great dive sites and it is away from the cruise ship crowds of Georgetown. Although we stayed at a time-share resort several miles away, we inspected an empty condo on site which is called Compass Point for future visits. OF built the Compass Point condos and then sold them. (Full ownership, not time-share) When the owners are not there, they are rented out to visiting divers. The condos are new and very well equipped with full kitchens and free internet wi-fi. They are located just steps from the pier and are very convenient. Grand Cayman is an expensive island but OF’s dive or dive and lodging packages are very reasonable. Every OF dive and stay package includes a rental car, so nearby restaurants are easily accessible as well as those drives into Georgetown for groceries of additional restaurant options. OF is a great dive concession we will use again
