Comments The resort was very good - Arie is a great host, food was good, and service was excellent. Very accommodating.

Dive operation was OK but certainly not the greatest. Staff was friendly and a few were very helpful. On one dive any similarity between the plan and the actual was coincidental. Nitrox was supplied on the boat. Analyzer was never calibrated to 21% - whatever was measured on air (eg 23%) was assumed to be the correction on nitrox (eg it was reading 2% high). On several days we received nitrox bottles that had not been filled and resulted in either swapping gear to other bottles or dragging bottles over to check the pressure with our own rig. Even after the first time we had short bottles there was no pressure gauge on board to make it easy to check. Because of windy conditions/high surf we had to go to the other side of the island to get the boat and dive. There was occasional help from staff in getting the gear on the trucks, but at times they would come to the van and tell us that there was gear on the ground rather than put it in the truck.

Only one time did a dive master go out of his/her way to find stuff - they basically led us out and back to the boat and no more. Unless requested there was no assistance given in swapping gear over on the boat so if that is important to you you'll need to ask. I prefer to take care of my own stuff so that was not an issue for me.

We saw turtles and one group saw one eagle ray close enough to photograph. Two others were seen way in the distance by one or two people. We also saw a couple of green morays and one spotted moray. I had about 15 dives and no other large animals were around which was surprising.

I rated the shore diving a 3 because we only got to do a couple due to surf conditions and didn't see much except topography on either one.
