Comments We have taken an annual January dive trip to the Caymans since 1994 and have dived with Dive 'n Stuff since 2002. Paul Deegan runs a great, small operation with a flat top boat (max 12) and a small V-hull. We see many of the same divers year after year. Experienced divers are allowed more freedom to dive their own profiles, but they are equally accommodating to new divers who need or prefer a guided experience. Safety always come first in either case.

New Cayman divers should know that in January you are most likely to dive the West Wall. Dive n' Stuff will do beach pick-ups in good weather along most of Seven Mile Beach -- a huge convenience. Cold fronts are common in winter, which can bring a stiff wind, so pack a fleece top, windbreaker and beanie for the surface interval if you have a tendency to get cold like I do. The North Wall is not to be missed for it's dramatic underwater structures and chance of seeing more large pelagics -- although we sometimes get there in the winter, other times of year are better for the North Wall. Many people also like to dive the East End (Ocean Frontiers is a great East End operation).

This year my 10 year old daughter and 13 year old son completed their Jr. Open Water Diver certification. I was very impressed with Paul's instruction. He was patient, very thorough, and treated them as people at all times. My children had a fabulous experience with Dive n' Stuff.

As far as what the diving brings: we saw nurse sharks, green, spotted and golden moray eels, eagle ray, sting ray, yellow ray, turtles, crabs, lobster, small critters like flamingo tongues and a huge array of fish -- there is no lack of interesting life.

Lacovia is a great luxury condo development on Seven Mile Beach with 1, 2 and 3 bedroom units. We have also enjoyed staying at Silver Sands, and of the big hotels, we prefer the Westin, as they have the best section of beach. Dive n' Stuff will do beach pick-ups at all these locations (and others).
