Comments I have always been told that Brac or little Cayman have better diving than the Grand. The Brac has been on my bucket list for 6 years, and I finally crossed it off this June. It is a very beautiful island, VERY quiet. The diving is as good as diving the East side of the Grand. The Brac is better than the east side as the seas are not as rough, less current, and possibly less diving pressure. If you want peace and quiet the Brac is your place. My wife is a non-diver so the lack of restaurant choices was rough and food is even more expensive than on the Grand. The people on Brac are the best, I think this is due to the nature of the visitors that come to the Brac, and the locals go out of their way to be helpful. We stayed at a VRBO owned by Henry, he is well known on the island and has 5 houses you can rent. His current onsite manager Sasha will cook for you, you work with her on the menu - blacken fish or chicken are two of her top dishes. She buys the food cooks it and you get to enjoy in the comfort of your home. The units Henry has are top of the line. The pictures on the internet don't do the units justice. We were shocked in how absolutely wonderful they were. Henry was extremely easy to work with and helped set up the car and recommend Brac Scuba Shack.
Brac Scuba Shack is outstanding, they go out of their way to make sure you have a great experience, they are on a flexible schedule so if something needs changing - leaving at 9 am instead of 8 they do it. Safety and instructions about the sites is foremost on the priority list. The diving is lazy as no current to speak of and the seas are calm. The only rough part is getting out of the bay, the cut to go thought the reef is small and on the windy side so it was always an exciting exit and return.
Would I go back, probably not? My wife and I like the East side better, I don’t mind the sea swells and current, I think the diving is as good if not better and more restaurant choices. The overall cost for the trip was about $600 more than we spend for the same time on the East.
I want to emphasize that it was worth diving and I don't regret the trip, as it is a wonderful place, and it should be on everyone's bucket list, what I like you may not. My advice, it is worth a visit.
