Comments This was our dive shop's (Wateree Dive Center in Columbia, SC) group trip for probably the 8th time or so to the Brac. We did not have a good start when USAirways called at 2:45 AM to tell us our 7 AM flight from Columbia, SC to Charlotte was cancelled due to "crew rest concerns" This was a bunch of bull so all 31 divers had to leave and get to Charlotte airport for the 9:40 flight. All made it and we all got to Cayman Brac on three flights from Grand Cayman to Cayman Brac. The resort has been rebuilt since the last big hurricane and really everything was very good. The food was excellent, buffet style, and plentiful. The attitude of the entire staff was excellent, with all quite willing to help in any way. The dive operation, Reef Divers, is excellent. The boats (4) are roomy and stable. All are 46 foot, new and well built. The corals were really healthy with good fish life. I was very pleased to see more grouper than any where we've been in the last 5 years. We went to Little Cayman one day and it was nice, but the site, Busstop, had more bleached coral and was the poorest dive of the week. Mixing Bowl was good, not great. Our dive masters, Bret and Barbie, were excellent. Barbie was named "Divemaster of the Month"
and left to receive her award in Miami.
Overall, this was a great week and I would certainly return. This is the first time our shop had been there since 2006, and I think it is better than ever.
