Comments We have been diving off and on in the Cayman Islands since 1987. The reefs are getting more damaged each year. Grand Cayman west side shows the wear and tear of all the divers but you can still find great areas. Don't forget about Hurricane Ivan. We saw the damage the year after Hurricane Ivan. Every piece of soft coral and lots of hard coral down to 60 feet were gone. The next year we saw an improvement. Even though the reefs are not as beautiful as in the past, any trip underwater is a joy to do. Cayman Brac and Little Cayman reefs are in better shape. Water wasn't as clear as in the past because of the wind and choppy water but who cares. There's always next time. We enjoy the islands because of the people and their friendliness to us. We did have to pay $15.00 in excess luggage because we flew from Grand Cayman to the Brac in the Otter. They only charged .50 a #. Coming back we were on the jet and didn't have to pay extra. Dress is casual and food is fantastic. Must go on a diet. Hotel new furnishings after Hurricane Paloma. Our dive masters Mick and Dave on Big Sister were great. Didn't lecture or babysit. They treated us like adults with a brain. We can't wait to go back.
