Comments This was another Wateree Dive Center trip to our “ Old Reliable”, Divi Flamingo diving with Divi Dive Bonaire. This was our 21st or 22nd Trip here so we pretty much know the routine. Serge runs a very good operation & the staff has been around for a long time. Orlando & Enrique we’re our divemasters for the week & were very good. Carlos & Luis we’re guiding our other boat & we always enjoy seeing Laurel, Alvin, & Ebby. The boats are fine, with good safety equipment. Nitrox is available & was consistently 31-32%. The visibility was good, likely due to only one cruise ship in port during the week. There were some sea lice or something similar that caused a good bit of irritation in many divers. The highlight of the week was a visit by a beautiful manta ray at Yellow Reef”. A few lion fish were seen, but not every dive. The juvenile population was good, with a good many juvenile drum & similar fish.
Restaurants downtown are an easy walk from Divi. Capriccios remains our favorite. Mi Banana is a local restaurant quite good, as was Patagonia’s. Gio’s Gelateria is a must for dessert, with the best gelato we’ve had anywhere.
The rooms are ok, but fine for divers. Often, the rooms would not be made up til the afternoon. The pools are fine & a good meeting place for everyone after diving is done for the day.
We enjoyed our trip & will return. Divi Flamingo is like a comfortable chair that we never tire of. We look forward to returning.
