Comments My wife and I stayed at the Black Durgon Inn for eleven days and we had a fabolous time. Rona, Rick, and Al are the most gracious hosts and they are very attentive without being overbearing. The dive shop is very conveniently located right off the pier and Rick is an excellent SSI instructor. My wife and I were a little bit rusty with our skills and Rick was very patient and helpful. The room we stayed in, overlooking the ocean, was perfect. Nothing fancy but comfortable and roomy. The rooms in the front of the Inn are not as nice but Rick and Rona are currently working on them. If you go there, ask for an ocean side room. All rooms are priced the same and the ocean view makes a big difference. We really didn't spend that much time in the room anyway. We would hang out on the patio, or dive off the pier at one of the best dive sites in Bonaire, Small Wall. The breakfast every morning was a treat and the open air shared kitchen was a great thing as it saved us a lot of money from eating out every night. Out of an eleven day stay we ate out only 4 times. The rest of the time we cooked dinner while watching the sunset. The diving was excellent both on site and around the island. The only annoyance was that dive operators won't let divers take more than one tank pp to the north of the island due to theft concerns. As far as thefts are concerned, we had no problems. I had done my homework prior to our trip and we followed the advice of not leaving anything in the truck while diving as well as leaving the truck unlocked with the windows rolled down. This, unfortunately, didn't allow us to take that many topside pictures but, in retrospect, it was worth the annoyance as two other divers from our inn had things stolen from their truck while diving. Overall, it was a great diving experience for two novices like my wife and I. Getting to Bonaire can be a little tricky but it is well worth the effort.
