Comments I stepped onto the dock after the 1 hour ride out from Dangriga, and was swarmed by no see ums. My legs and arms were covered in red welts before I even got to our cabin. Welcome to Isla Marisol! A trash dump was hidden right behind the dive shop, saw a broken cistern filled with mosquito breeding water, and almost gouged the beejejezus outa my toe on a small broken concrete pillar with its rebar sticking up in the sand right on the walking path from the cottages to the chow hall. Our cottage was beat up, with a hardly working, electrical shower heating device handing over your head in the shower, with its wires exposed, and a virtual inability to provide hot water. All of the staff were very nice, with the exception of Mr. Way Too Serious, the dive manager, who is nicknamed "Buddha" because of his tattoo. Diving was very enjoyable, with varied topography, reasonable life, and exciting swarms of creolle wrasse and black tangs. Big current Grouper Gulch had 4 blacktips, jack schools and literally hundreds of ocean triggers spread over the entire drift. Meals are chosen for you by the wonderfully friendly cooks, but it's a fairly plain menu. Fun trip, but accomodations were poor, the area needs to be cleaned up and repaired, and you MUST PROTECT YOURSELF FROM THE NO SEE UMS!
