Comments I was on holiday in Barbados, staying at the Coral Reef Club which is luxurious. High Tide Watersports have a dive centre in the resort offering two tank morning dives on their own large boat. Most of the dives are on the south west end of the island about 30 to 45 mins from the resort. I wasn't on a dive holiday but did two morning two tank dives. One was on Barbados signature dive site - the wreck of the Stavronika. This was the most challenging dive at around 28m max depth. We did a tour of the wreck including a couple of easy penetrations. It's a nice wreck with lots of fish life. Another dive at Carlisle Bay involves a shallow "wreck tour" around five small wrecks which was a gentle potter and pleasant. The other dives were on relatively shallow reefs and we saw some nice juvenile fish. The dive master hunts lion fish on these dives.
Nitro is available, although other than for the Stavronika you don't really need it. The boat wasn't too crowded and the set up was fine. I wouldn't necessarily go on a trip to Barbados only to dive but it is an interesting island with history and some good places to stay and eat. Not cheap.
