Comments We've been on the Juliet before and had many great dives, but the weather gods reared their ugly heads on this trip. Arrived aboard the afternoon of Sept. 30. Boat left Miami later that day with an uneventful trip across the Gulf Stream.

Everyone was ready to hit the water on Sunday. We waited, not so patiently, for Captain Liza to get us checked in at Cat Key. The wind was starting to pick up a bit, but we're on the water right, no worries? Had a very nice shallow tune up dive at Big Greenie. Second dive was on the wreck of the Sapona and also shallow. Bit of current, which changed direction during the dive and more wind. Later that evening back at Big Greenie for the night dive.

The wind, waves and surface current were getting progressively stronger. Seems we were caught between a high pressure system to the North and a low to the South. We were the "wind tunnel" in the middle.

Trying to find a location where it was safe to dive was getting difficult if not impossible. Captain Liza called a group meeting to bring us up to date on the weather and our options. The weather was projected to get worse and crossing the Gulf Stream more difficult as time went on. We could stay on more day, or go back to Miami.

The group elected to go back as the waves in the Gulf Stream were supposed to be 14 feet later in the week. Arrived back in Miami Monday at 7:00 pm after a very rolling trip in 8-9 foot Gulf Stream waves. Moral of this story is when you're on the water "stuff" can happen.

The Captain and crew did the best they could to make a bad situation better. We were given several options for the rest of our charter. We could use the Juliet as our "home base" and tour around Miami (or) we could try to re-book our flights. If we chose to leave, we could get credit for the unused portion of our trip toward another trip on the Juliet (or) we could submit a claim to our trip insurance.

Those that paid for Nitrox, we were given a full refund.

So here I sit at home writing a review instead of in the Bahamas diving. I realize this is not much of a "dive" trip review, however, once again, when "stuff" happens its good to know that a top notch operation has your back!

Thanks to the Captain and crew of the Juliet for getting us into Miami a bit queasy, but safe and sound to dive another day.
