Comments My first live aboard dive trip and it was absolutely a fun experience from beginning to end on the Juliet. The 104 foot three mast sail/diesel powered boat hosts twelve total divers and a fantastic crew of five friendly and knowledgeable staff led by Captain John who makes sure everything runs as smoothly as possible for his guests. Made new friends, enjoyed diving new and exciting sites in the Bimini area, and saw my first manta ray, lionfish, and one tiger shark. Biologist Danielle added great info on various fish as well as coral. Dives varied from a couple of drift dives, wrecks, giant coral heads, and Krispy Kreme, one of the most spectactular wall dives I've ever done (where my dive partner and I saw the tiger shark).

Captain John runs a class operation and can adjust the schedule to meet changing conditions as he did when Tropical Depression Barry delayed our crossing from Miami (where Juliet picks up guests) to Bahamas. Instead of leaving night of our arrival onboard (Saturday)we stayed on boat in Miami and dived three wreck sites off Miami Beach the next day. Viz was poor but the diving was ok with little current. Two Tanks is an unusual dive site with two Abrams(sp?) tanks facing each other and a large rock pile in between. It was full of reef critters. When it was safe to sail to Bahamas we agreed to scrub nite dive and headed east. After clearing customs in the early morning we were diving by 9:30 and did four dives a day - three day and one night - until Thursday when we did three day dives and headed back to Miami.

My favorite dive sites included Bimini Strip, a small patch coral just off shore but full of life. We did it as an afternoon and later as a night dive and both times it was different. We did the same thing on the Hesperas Wreck which sets in only 17 feet of water but is host to countless large sting rays in the sand, loggerhead turtles, a lionfish, and large schools of fish including ocean triggerfish sleeping on their sides at night in the wreckage. Night dive viz was only 15-20 feet but it was still a fantastic dive with so much to see and enjoy. The diving ended at a site called Bull Run famous for its large number of reef sharks and a "pet" grouper named Lucky. A great way to end a great dive trip. Only negative was the algae growth on several reefs.

The food was plentiful and balanced, with Aleca (cook) topping off dinners with fantastic desserts. Dive master Greg gives informative briefings on each site and chief mechanic/captain Brandon is always helpful and entertaining. Everyone on board got along incredibly well even though most were strangers at start of trip. In fact we are all talking of going as a group again next year. I highly recommend Juliet to any diver who wants a fun, uncrowded live aboard experience with a great crew.
