Comments I recommend Great Guana Cay, Bahamas for a fall trip that is guaranteed to be a very quiet and very relaxing trip to get away from it all and do some laid-back, very easy diving while there. No dive was over 50 feet with almost no current or waves.

Restaurants are limited and expensive. Our group of 6 prepared our own food most of the week where we stayed at "The Red House" which is a part of the Dophin Beach Resort. The Dophin Beach Resort is a short walk from the dive shop. Docksider has a great view of Abacos Sound and it has a diverse and changing menu, albeit pricey. Nippers Beach Bar has a nice pool, great beach view and good snorkeling but food is marginal. Everyone on the island was very curtious and helpful. The grocery store on the island is well stocked with lots of variety. Golf carts are the mode of transporation around the island and needed for exploration.

Dive Guana is a small dive operation which is owned by Troy and Maria. We found Troy and his first mate, Rudy, to be accomodating and attentive to divers. Divemaster Troy was a bit cool on my first impression but we found him to be helpful and as attentive as you wanted him to be. Coral is not in great shape with algae everywhere and there are very few small critters. On the other hand, there where lots of blacktip sharks and schools of fish. Our best dive was a wreck dive - Jacento. This wreck is full of large schools of snappers, grunts, etc. Troy knows all the dive sites very well and tries to find the critters, etc. you are in search of. Lots of pretty swim throughs. One lion fish. Lots of grouper.

The beaches are white, soft sand, blue, clear, clean water. The snorkeling at the pier beside the dive shop and off the beach was good. Take Albury's Ferry there from Marsh Harbour which keeps a regular, punctual schedule with large roomy and clean boats. Dive Guana will arrange private ferry also to Marsh Harbour.
