Comments The Snefro Target is one of the company's better boats, and though an aging dowager, she is quite fine for a week's exploration of the Northern Red Sea highlights. When you can score a week of liveaboard diving for under $1300, including free nitrox, then give it serious consideration.
Yet, amazingly, so few Americans do go join their European cousins on Red Sea liveaboards that it is a shame. The Red Sea should be on everybody's bucket list as it is far, but not that far to reach.
We felt very safe though did not do any land based touring in Egypt.

The boat is well cared for, with plenty of room for 16 divers. Cabins are usual sized and while this is not a luxury vessel, it is quite nice. Our week it was a group of 12 friends from Spain, a German guy, and my wife and I. Everyone was friendly and got along.
The crew is top notch, food is varied, and plentiful, and the beer is reasonably priced.
We had a small incident the first night still in port, where an AC unit had a small but smoky fire. That meant we lost a day of diving while repairs were made, but the company was extraordinary in refunding a day's worth of the trip, housing us in a local resort and paying for land based diving instead.

The diving is far better than the Caribbean but not as good as Pacific/Asian bucket list places. A few years ago we did a liveaboard on the Southern Red Sea, leaving from Marsa Alam/Hurghada and that route had more fish life and was a better itinerary overall. This boat alternates weeks with Northern and Southern Red Sea routes.

But, the water is warm, seas mostly calm, visibility good to great, diving mostly easy, with a few mild to challenging current/drift dives. The dive staff are professional and skilled. Dives are done off a zodiac or from the big boat, depending on the location.
