What's a Mini Chapbook? And the difference with the "real" Chapbook?
A Mini Chapbook a set of reader reports that you generate dyanmically, i.e. you specify what reports you want. The 2025 Chapbook itself is like a book that's been published, so you don't select what reports you want to see. It contains reader reports submitted from Dec, 2023 through November, And it covers all diving destinations whereas a Mini Chapbook is for one destination (e.g. Cozumel, Indonesia) only and can contain any reader reports available, including the very latest.
What's the advantage of generating a Mini Chapbook over just using the existing Chapbook?
A Mini Chapbook gives you the power to select what reports go in it, choosing one or several years of interest, the destination, and even the dive operations. You can quickly generate a small section specific to your needs. Give it a try and you'll see what we mean. And whereas the 2025 Chapbook contains all reports filed since the 2024 Chapbook up until the time it was generated, a Mini Chapbook can include more recent reports. You can generate as many Mini Chapbooks as you want.
How do I get the Kindle version on my Kindle Paperwhite/Voyage/...?
Basically you can email it to Amazon through the special email address Amazon assigns you/your Kindle -- they will then transfer it to your Kindle via WiFi -- or you can just copy it over via a USB cable. See here for more details or Google "mobi file to Kindle".
I'm having trouble downloading the Chapbook!
If it "hangs" and does not finish downloading, stop it and try again -- internet disturbances can cause such. If you still have problems, use the Email it to me option on that page. If you get a message about "Internal Server Error" please report that to me via our Contact form and supply details of what computer and browser/version you are using. Write me if you continue to have problems and we'll get a Chapbook to you one way or another.
What happens/happened to the PDF file when I downloaded it?
This depends on your browser (Firefox, IE, Safari, ...) and your download settings for your browser. In most cases you will be prompted for where you want to save the file, and that's where it will be. In some cases it might be saved directly on your Desktop. In Firefox you can go to Tools/Downloads and that will bring up a window showing where you have stored them (unless you cleared that window). You can open the file from there or open the folder that contains the file.
I requested the Chapbook/Mini-Chapbook to be emailed to me, but I didn't get it?
You probably need to check with your ISP (internet service provider) or system administrator if this happens more than once. Note that these files, especially the Chapbook itself, can be several Megabytes and some email servers and software disallow these. In that case, you should try downloading the file.
How do I get a printed copy of the Chapbook or Mini Chapbook?
Each year we make a printed copy available to current subscribers for an additional charge: at our cost (usually around $15). We will email subscribers when it is available, or you can check our website for it.
How can I contact the author of the report?
If the report author has authorized this, there's a link in the subscriber's versions (sorry not available in the public one) of both the PDF and HTML files that allows you to contact the author via email. Note we do not directly give you that email address so as to prevent spammers from harvesting it. Also you can locate the report in our Instant Reader Reports section and contact the author.. When you open the report, you'll see an option to contact him/her via a form (look for "Questions? Send an email .." near the top). We are deliberately NOT putting email addresses directly in these reports so that the subscribers who submitted these reports, do not get on more spam lists. This is to protect our subscribers privacy.
Other Chapbooks had a Reporter Index so I could easily locate someone's report -- how do I do that?
When viewing the Chapbook in your PDF viewer (Acrobat or ...), Kindle, iPad, ..., you can do a search on the name. That should locate any reporter you want.
