Thumbs Up

Long time Undercurrent subscribers Jeanne and Bill Downey (Baden, PA.) were aboard the Palau Aggressor in February, when they boarded the Aggressor’s skiff to head to the Blue Corner.

“Several waves hit our overloaded (22 people) skiff, almost capsizing it. One divemaster was launched into the air while trying to stabilize the boat, and our housed Nikon N90 camera was launched overboard when nearly three feet of water inside the skiff lifted the gas tanks and the plywood upon which all the cameras were sitting. Luckily, the other cameras hung up on parts of the motors and railings and were saved.

“To compensate us, Dan Ruth, owner of the Palau Aggressor sent us two vouchers good on any of his five boats. It doesn’t replace the camera but it will get us aboard the Tahiti Aggressor this December.”

While we might be tempted to give a thumbs down for the overloaded skiff and the lost Nikon, Dan Ruth made a satisfactory response and deserves our thumbs up of the month. The Downeys suggest that if you’re going aboard the Palau Aggressor, “bring a line to attach your camera to the railing around the camera platform on the skiff.”
